On Monday, October 7, our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) will kick off our Annual Direct Donation Drive. Our goal is to raise $17,000 to purchase Chromebooks. Did you know that the Irvine Unified School District is among the lowest funded school districts in the country? Our district receives nearly $4,000 less per student than the national average. We are successful, thanks in large part to strong support from parents through PTSA.
Five years ago, Venado did not have a single Chromebook on campus. Since that time, we have made strategic investments using PTSA donation drive proceeds, district technology matching funds and site funds to transform Venado Middle School into a technology-rich school. With over 800 Chromebooks on campus, we are one of few IUSD schools that has a class set of these devices in virtually every classroom. This means that all Venado students and staff have access to state of the art technology, we purchase approximately 130 devices each year in order to replace all devices in 6 years. Replacing desktop and laptop computers is even more expensive. These considerable costs are simply not possible without the support of our parent community.
In our Direct Donation Drive, 100% of your donation will benefit Venado students and teachers. We are confident that we can meet our goal of $17,000 or $100 per family, by Friday, November 15. For just 56 cents per day this school year, you can make a significant impact in your child’s classroom. I strongly urge you to make the suggested donation when the drive begins on Monday, October 7. Donations of any amount are accepted and greatly appreciated. Employer matched donations are also gladly accepted. The
