IPSF After School Classroom Enrichment (ACE)
Afterschool Classroom Enrichment (ACE) is a program sponsored by the Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) in cooperation with the Irvine Unified School District. Classes are taught by IUSD teachers or professionals contracted by IPSF. Venado will be offering a variety of classes during Trimester 1 which include:
-
Homework Club: This class is facilitated by Venado teachers and is open to all Venado Middle School students. The goal is to support students in achieving academic success by providing individual monitoring of homework completion and assistance while developing basic work habits. Choose two days per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule), or all four days for additional afterschool support.
-
NASP – National Archery in the Schools Program: Join us as we continue archery at Venado. Students will be introduced to archery through the NASP program which promotes instruction in international style target archery. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice archery in a safe and fun environment.
-
Science Olympiad: Just like an athletic team, Science Olympiad clubs are coached by teachers, improved by mentors and filled with top talent. Each fall, Science Olympiad releases new rules and teams tackle the 23 STEM-aligned events in pairs, building devices for on-site testing, studying for core knowledge challenges and preparing for rigorous hands-on lab experiments. Science Olympiad events touch every letter in STEM and align with Next Generation Science Standards, allowing students to extend their science thinking forward in an after school setting.
Scholarships Available: Full and partial scholarships are available for all classes based on financial need. Families are invited to view eligibility requirements and apply for assistance by completing the Scholarship Application at www.ipsf.net/afterschool.
Registration for these classes will begin on November 8 through November 18. Parents need to go to www.enroll.ipsf.net and make a new account, even if your child has taken an IPSF class in the past. Classes begin the week of Monday, November 28 and end the week of February 20. Please visit the IPSF Academy website to Browse Classes and Enroll. If you have any questions, please contact Dawn Baranski, ACE Coordinator and Math Teacher at DawnBaranski@iusd.org.
