Venado’s Special Education Department is pleased to announce the continuation of a program which brings therapy dogs on campus for monthly educational visits. The organization, Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OCSPCA), offers PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support) programs which visit schools, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals and children’s homes to support people with disabilities. OCSPCA will be working with students in order to teach students how to act responsibly and safely around dogs, as well as to foster kindness and respect for animals. Their therapy dog program brings joy and encouragement to those with a wide variety of disabilities. The organization is expected to visits classrooms and work with students one time per month, during Lunch and Tutorial, for the 2018-2019 school year. Their next visit will be on November 15.
