National History Day - January 18
We are pleased to extend an exciting invitation to our annual National History Day Showcase on January 18, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. This is an opportunity to view your child’s hard work, diligence, and dedication to this authentic historical thinking project. Students have had the opportunity to learn the habits of mind of a historian that extend outside the history classroom.
National History Day is a year-long academic program focused on historical research, interpretation and creative expression for 6th to 12th grade students. By participating in NHD, students become writers, filmmakers, web designers, playwrights and artists as they create unique contemporary expressions of history. The experience culminates in a series of contests at the local and affiliate levels and an annual national competition in the nation's capital in June.
Please join us in celebrating your child’s hard work as they have researched topics for this year’s theme: Turning Points in History. There will be an awards ceremony that will recognize the top contestants in each project category, and they will represent Venado Middle School at the Orange County competition on March 9, 2024 at the Orange County Department of Education.
Thank you for supporting your child throughout their endeavor on this project. We look forward to seeing you on January 18, 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Venado Knights Plaza.
With many thanks,
John Beckman, Kevin Bui, Harry Meussner and Hector Gamboa
