We are pleased to extend an exciting invitation to our second annual National History Day Showcase on January 23, 2020 from 6-8 PM. This is an opportunity to view students’ hard work, diligence, and dedication to this authentic historical thinking project. Students have had the opportunity to learn the habits of mind of a historian that extend outside the history classroom.

National History Day is a year-long academic program focused on historical research, interpretation and creative expression for 6th- to 12th-grade students. By participating in NHD, students become writers, filmmakers, web designers, playwrights and artists as they create unique contemporary expressions of history. The experience culminates in a series of contests at the local and affiliate levels and an annual national competition in the nation's capital in June.

Please join us in celebrating students’ hard work as they have researched topics for this year’s theme: Breaking Barriers. There will be an awards ceremony that will recognize the top contestants in each project category that will represent Venado Middle School at the Orange County competition on March 14, 2020 at the Orange County Department of Education.
