PBIS Extended Lunch

Venado’s first PBIS Extended Lunch of the year was held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. PBIS Extended Lunches are held two times a year (after the first and second trimesters) to acknowledge and reward students for their academic and HONOR Code achievements. Venado students must meet published eligibility criteria (see pages XIII of the Student Planner) to participate in extracurricular activities such as extended lunches. We are happy to report that 607 of our students (92%) were eligible to participate based on their first trimester report cards.

Eligible students enjoyed a 55 minute lunch period, instead of the typical 35 minute lunch period. Venado provided ice cream sandwiches for students to enjoy. Derek Rodriguez, City of Irvine Middle School Program (MSP) Coordinator, and his colleagues were also on hand to setup and supervise various games and activities. Students engaged in activities including an inflatable jousting ring, jump rope, foosball, and ping-pong. Students also played card games and made key chains while listening to music played by our Associated Student Body.  The extended lunch was a success and we hope that even more students will be able to participate in our next PBIS Extended Lunch after the second trimester.
