Venado’s first PBIS Extended Lunch of the year was held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. PBIS Extended lunches are held twice a year (after the first and second trimester) to acknowledge and reward students for their academic and HONOR achievements. Venado students must meet published eligibility criteria (see Student Planner) to participate in extracurricular activities such as extended lunches. We are happy to report that 539 (88%) of our students were eligible to participate based on their first trimester report cards.
Eligible students enjoyed a 55 minute lunch period, instead of the typical 35 minute lunch period. Venado provided a DJ who played music on the outdoor stage as students danced along. Eligible students also received ice cream sandwiches to celebrate. Ashley Botana, City of Irvine Middle School Program (MSP) Coordinator, and her team were also on hand to setup and supervise various activities and games. Students engaged in an inflatable jousting ring, and mass dodge ball games. The extended lunch was a success and we hope that even more students will be able to participate in our next PBIS Extended Lunch after second trimester.
