On behalf of the Venado Middle School staff, I would like to once again extend a very sincere thank you to everyone who made donations during our Fall Direct Donation Drive. We raised $14,597, as donations trickled in even after our drive came to an end. Although we did not reach our goal of $17,000, we are pleased with the outcome. The donations will be used, in conjunction with site funds,
to purchase innovative and flexible furniture for English Language Arts classrooms. Late last year, we purchased such furniture for three classroom serving students in our Special Education Program. Our goal over the next 3-4 years is to equip every classroom on campus with such furniture, one department at a time. Innovative and flexible furniture supports active, inquiry-based and hands-on learning in technology-rich environments such as Venado. Active classroom designs have a positive impact on student outcomes, including student engagement and achievement. Once again, thank you so very much for your continued support. I would also like to thank PTSA President, Theresa Collins, parent, Susan Fong and Office Assistant, T. Laughlin, for all their efforts with our Fall Direct Donation Drive.
