February was an exciting month for our DHH Program. Ten of our students competed in a national reading competition for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students called Battle of the Books (BOTB). Students were divided into two different teams based on their reading levels. Each team was given three different books to read, discuss and study. Then, using Zoom technology and Powerpoint, our students battled against other DHH students from all over the United States and even one team from England to see which team could answer the most questions correctly. Both teams did an outstanding job in the preliminary part of the competition and advanced to the play-off rounds. After some really tough matches, our Green Team (Noor J., Joseph O., Victor R., Luis S., and Daniel S.) did extremely well finishing 2nd out of 26 teams. Our Blue Team (Juliana D., Bina P., Ben R., Cindy R., and Aleena S.) also did very well. They ranked in the Top 8 after playoffs and will continue on to the National Championship. They have been given 4 new books to read, discuss and study and will compete against the last remaining 8 Blue teams in April. We are so proud of this very dedicated and hard-working group of students. Go Knights!
